Daylesford Academy Safeguarding Statement: 

Safeguarding legislation and government guidance says that safeguarding means:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome


Safeguarding includes child protection, health care plans, health and safety, site security, safety on school trips, anti-bullying work and so much more.


The School’s Child Protection Team consists of:

  • Mrs J Duffy (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
  • Ms N Capok (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead)


The School adheres to the following three DFE safeguarding documents:

The School has a suite of Safeguarding documents which are reviewed regularly. These are:

All staff receive annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training and are aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within school. If any members of the school or local community have concerns about the welfare of a child in the school, please pass them on to the School Child Protection Team.



Should visitors have any safeguarding concerns they should immediately report these to one of the DSLs so it can be recorded on our electronic recording system.


If the concern is about the headteacher then this concern should be addressed to the Chair of the Local Advisory Board through reception who will contact the Chair immediately.


All staff including supply staff, regular visitors and volunteers are subject to an enhanced DBS check.  This ensures that we are reassured that these people are suitable to work with children.  Identity badges are worn by all staff and all visitors are required to sign in at Reception and are provided with a visitor badge which must at all times.  Please have a look at our information leaflet for visitors and members of the school community.  Please read this thoroughly before entering the school.
